In 2006, Woodmen Valley Chapel formed the Center for Strategic Ministry as an affiliated non-profit organization, in an effort to leverage the unique resources and reach of a large, multi-campus church in a growing city. The CSM provides opportunities for partnerships typically unavailable to a local church, as well as liability protection for the church in some of its unique endeavors.

As a separate non-profit, the CSM has a separate charter, board, and finances from Woodmen Valley Chapel. While CSM activities are an extension of Woodmen, many of its activities are designed to meet a community need rather than a church objective.

Over the last 15 years, the CSM has undertaken various projects that have come and gone. Land development at Shiloh Mesa, working with homeless neighbors at the Express Inn near I-25 and US-24, establishing a mobile kitchen for emergency relief and community meals are just a few of the past projects the CSM has undertaken. As it continues to look forward, the CSM board is working to understand how it can leverage the resources of Woodmen Valley Chapel in ways that address community challenges and work toward a thriving city.
